Walking and More Holidays

It's been busy here at the Asch household. We constructed our first family Sukkah and enjoyed eating in it, especially during the first part of the holiday when it was a balmy 74 degrees out. When it dropped into the 50s, Chris got excited and Erica brrrr-aved the cold. Miri, for her part, seemed more interested in eating the decorative gourds than doing anything else. [Hey, it doesn't say what to eat in the Sukkah!]

We also had a fabulous time at Simchat Torah services. Miri was a big hit with her stuffed Torah and flag. She joined in the first Hakafah (circuit around the synagogue with the Torahs) and walked all the way around the sanctuary while holding onto Daddy's hand. Mommy was honored with being Kallat Torah, the person who reads the last part of the Torah. Everyone had a blast!

In other news, Miri is officially walking. She has been taking tentative, Frankenstein steps for about a month, but only up to five or six in a row before she would topple over, often face-first. That was entertaining, but not exactly walking. Lately she's stepped up her game -- she will take up to ten steps, wobble a bit, balance herself, and even bend down to pick something up. She loves doing it when we don't have the video camera on, but we caught a little bit of it below.

All of you look well and happy--as it should be! I'm delighted to see the photo of Miriam with her stuffed Torah. It made me feel like I was there with you. We miss you in Cincinnati.

Hey Chris! I LOVE reading about you, Erica, and Miri. She's grown so much since I saw her in May!

I also had my first Sukkah dinners this year. It was so awesome! I'm grateful for coworkers who are willing to share their faith and their experience with me.

I hope all is well. Take care!
