Miriam is the first girl of her generation in our family. She has three older boy cousins, and their job will be to toughen her up — smack her around a little bit, make fun of her, toss her around, and so on. That's what family is for, right? (At least that's what Chris' brothers always did to him...)
Cousin Pearce came by Grandma Margery's house yesterday, and he showed Miri a new move — the head butt. Apparently, he does this to the cats in his house. Miri responded in good Three Stooges fashion — with an eye poke. It was quite the scene, albeit in baby-slow-motion! Check it out:

- Chris and Erica met in Mississippi. Erica was in her second year of Teach For America and Chris was running the Sunflower County Freedom Project. They were married in Indianola, Mississippi, in 2004. They welcomed Miriam Frances in November of 2007; Robin Arielle arrived in December 2009. Erica ordained as a rabbi in May of 2008 and the family moved to the Washington, DC area. Chris is working on his next book, a history of race in Washington, DC and Erica is a rabbi at Temple Sinai in DC.

That is great! I'm glad Miri has someone there to toughen her up and that she is learning to fight back. I miss you guys so much. I can't wait for the big reunion on Tuesday.
