Camping

We took to the woods this past weekend for another try at camping. (You may recall last time Miri didn't make it through the night). We went with Miri's best friend (this week), Theo and his parents Beth and Steve. We had some great camp food (mac n' cheese with tuna, veggie dogs and corn) and of course made smores. The kids all slept (!) and we woke up ready to play the next morning. We walked to a nearby playground which was soaked from the recent rainstorm. The kids had a great time and we can't wait to do it again.

Ready, set...
Go! Miri's already wet rear end caused her to fly down the slide and off the end.

She's okay, I guess...

Miri is having more fun with her little sister. After a couple months of mainly ignoring Robin, she now interacts with the li'l one more and more. Sure, that sometimes consists of throwing toys in her general direction so Robin can play with them, but you have to start somewhere. The picture session quickly devolves into Miri's favorite activity with Robin: tackling.

Friends again!

Cousin Time

We were lucky to spend four days at the beach with Chris' brother, Mike and his family. Miri loved being with her big cousins, Matthew and Damon and Robin liked showing off to John just what he'll be able to do in another six weeks.

Seven Months

Robin is a joy at seven months. She has continued her smiley, happy ways and is generally excited about each new adventure. Her favorite pastimes are eating Miri's toys, rasslin' and hanging in the pool. She is also a fast crawler. Look at her go!

Hot, hot and more hot

Did we mention it's hot? We have been trying to stay as cool as possible while we have record temperatures here is DC. Here's how we have been spending our time.

Wearing our shades to at least look cool!
Rasslin'. What else do you do when you are stuck inside all day?
(Notice what a good time Robin is having)
Staying hydrated.
And spending a lot of time at the pool

Fun and Sun (or Shade...)

We've been having a great time in California. It's not 100 degrees like it is in DC and it's not sunny either. Highs have been barely hitting the mid-60s. Despite the cool weather we are enjoying ourselves. Highlights include....
Celebrating the 4th with Ben and Megan. Auntie Megan made the cutest outfits ever for the kids. We even managed to snap a few pictures before the household returned to chaos.

Dinner at the Corvette Diner, one of our favorite California restaurants. Milkshakes and balloon animals, what could be better?

A trip to the Zoo with PopPop. Riding on the skyfari (up in the air) was really fun. Miri loved the bus ride and climbing on the animal statues.

California Here We Come

It's the 4th of July, so we headed West to one of America's most patriotic towns (and Erica's hometown): Coronado, CA. Miri & Robin have had a great time watching the parade (a true Coronado tradition), swimming, and going to the park. Another highlight of the trip? Going to the Padres game. We sat in the bleachers in a section known as "the beach" with a big sandbox right in front where Miri played for most of the game. Oh, and we got some free beach towels too.

Erica's brother, Ben, has been here the past few days with Cousin Chase (three) and Cousin Brynn (two months). Miri has learned a lot being with her bigger cousin. He taught her how to jump into the swimming pool and how to play hide n seek. Here they are being "found" by Grandma Jean.
No pictures because our camera ran out of batteries and Mommy forgot the charger. Good thing PopPop has been recording our trip. We hope to be able to post some pics of his soon.
