Winter Fun

Nothing says winter like seven inches of snow and no power! We lost power for a couple of days earlier this week, but were lucky enough to bunk down with Nana, who opened up her house to all four of us and our neighbors--including their two kids Danny (3) and Bomei (8 months). It was a little bit crowded in the house, but we had a great time eating a pizza dinner, enjoying dessert and giving Cocoa (Nana's dog) a little bit of love. We are so grateful the power is back on now!
With all the snow, we took the opportunity to go sledding. Faithful readers of the blog will remember Miri's crazy sledding adventures last year (see here). Unfortunately, we didn't have the camera when Miri went flying down the hill, almost took out two kids, zipped under Mommy's legs (while she was holding Robin) and almost crashed into a tree. We only have this rather tame video below. Hopefully, there will be more to come--sledding, not power outages!

Visitors!

Grandma Jean and Pop Pop paid us a visit last week. We had a wonderful time. Daddy took the opportunity to go backpacking in below freezing weather while Mommy held down the fort with a lot of help. Highlights? A grownup visit to the Capital Steps (thanks Aunt Debbie!), ice skating, and dinner with Nana.

Pop Pop gets a little cuddle time with Robin, who is displaying her trademark I want to sleep pose.

Grandma Jean goes ice skating with Miri.
Reading time with and AWESOME new book--Waterfalls of Yosemite. Written by Grandma Jean with photos by Pop Pop.

Robin-Houdini

Robin has turning into quite a climber and contortionist lately. Often, we come upstairs after her nap to find her with one arm out of her shirt and her socks off. The best is when she manages to simultaneously get one arm out of her sleeve and both feet in the same leg hole. Does she secretly want to be a mermaid?

New Year's Classic

To get ready for the big Capitals-Penguins game in the New Year's Classic, Miri went out to practice in her new skates from Uncle Mike and Auntie Ann. It was her first time out on the ice, and she had a blast. No cameras allowed on the ice, alas, so no in-action shots.
