Sledding

A surprise snowstorm dropped 6+ inches of beautiful white fluffiness this weekend, so we had to head outdoors. Robin is still a wee bit small for sledding, but Miriam had a blast. Her little red disk sent her (and sometimes Daddy too) careening down the hills of Takoma Park, and she would hop up at the end shrieking with laughter. Daddy claims that she insisted on making the long trek back up the hill all by herself each time, though some of the other folks at the park thought about calling Child Services when they saw her trudging uphill...

It's official!

With family, friends, and a bunch of rabbis in attendance, Robin Arielle was officially named and welcomed into the Jewish faith. She did a fantastic job of sleeping through the whole event, and Miriam managed to stay relatively calm until the end of the ceremony (afterwards, she and her cousin Pearce spent about an hour running laps around the house, hollering the whole time). Special thanks to the Rosses for hosting, the grandparents for food, and Rabbi (and friend!) Esther Lederman for officiating.

Part of the family

Robin is getting comfortable as part of the family. She gets plenty of loving attention from Na-Na (Grandma Margery), of course, and Thunder has taken a liking to his new little sis. There are times, however, when he resists her encroaching upon his rightful territory -- places like Daddy's chest.

Settling In

We have been a family of four for a whole week now. A big thank you to Nana (aka Grandma Margery) for taking care of Miri while Mom and Dad were at the hospital. Not only did she do a great job on Miri duty, she cleaned the entire house as well (laundry, vacuuming, mopping, etc.) Amazing! Grandma Jean just left after spending five days in town. It was so great to have another pair of (adult-sized) hands around to hold Robin and play with Miri. We especially loved celebrating her birthday with all of our family in town.

Miri has been adjusting to life with a little sister. So far, she's been a great big sis -- she likes to get the diapers and wipes to help change Robin's diaper. There are times, though, when she seems sad at having to share her parents.
